What Is Speedometers.live?
Speedometers.live is a free browser-based speed measurement platform. We build GPS speed tools that work directly in your smartphone or desktop browser — no app download, no account, no tracking.
Every tool on this site uses your device’s built-in GNSS chip and the standard browser Geolocation API to measure real ground speed. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Our Tools
We provide free, accurate, real-time speed measurement tools for a wide range of use cases:
- Speedomètre en ligne — The main GPS speed tool. Works in any browser, on any device.
- GPS Speedometer — Technical guide to satellite-based speed measurement and Doppler technology.
- Speed Converter — Convert between mph, km/h, knots, and m/s instantly.
- Car Speed Test — Check your vehicle dashboard speedometer accuracy against GPS ground speed.
- Bike Speedometer — Turn your phone into a bicycle computer.
- Motorcycle Speedometer — GPS speed tracker with HUD windshield mirror mode.
- Running Speed Tracker — Live sprint and jogging pace measurement.
- Train Speed Tracker — Real-time rail velocity measurement.
- Boat Speedometer — Marine speed in knots, km/h, and mph.
- Flight Speed Tracker — Measure aircraft ground speed from a passenger seat.
- Speed Tracker — Trip log with max speed, average pace, and distance.
- Speedometer App — The PWA version for home screen installation and offline use.
Privacy
Your speed and location data are never uploaded, sold, or shared. All calculation happens locally in your browser. We do not collect personal information, we do not require an account, and we do not store GPS coordinates or trip history on any server.
Content and Technical Standards
All technical content on this site is based on established physics, aviation standards (ICAO), maritime conventions, and automotive engineering references. We describe how GPS speed measurement works, how satellite systems function, and how vehicle speedometers compare to satellite ground speed. We do not fabricate statistics, specifications, or performance claims.
Our Team
Speedometers.live is built and maintained by a small team of engineers and writers with backgrounds in GPS systems, web performance, and technical communication.
Our technical content is reviewed against published standards from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe automotive regulations (UNECE), and GNSS constellation operator documentation from NASA, ESA (Galileo), Roscosmos (GLONASS), and CNSA (BeiDou). We cite the primary source when a specific standard or figure is referenced.
If you spot an error in our technical descriptions, conversion formulas, or speed benchmarks, please contact us at [email protected] — we read every correction request and update content within 48 hours when a cited source supports the change.
