How to Test Your Speed in KM/H

1. Open the km/h speedometer
Any modern mobile browser works: Chrome, Safari, Samsung Internet, Firefox or Edge. KM/H is preselected on this page.

2. Allow precise location
Approve the location prompt and keep precise location on. Approximate location is too coarse to measure speed.

3. Start moving
Hold steady or mount the phone. After 10–15 seconds outdoors the reading becomes stable, and the stats below the gauge record your top and average speed.
What Does KM/H Mean?
You will also see it written as kph, kmph or km/hr — they all mean the same thing. Scientists use meters per second (m/s), and sailors and pilots use knots.

How Accurate Is a GPS Speed Test in KM/H?
Accuracy is lower right after you start (before the satellites lock), during hard acceleration, and where the sky is blocked: tunnels, underground stations, dense forest and narrow streets between tall buildings. For the most reliable reading, compare speeds while travelling at a constant speed on an open, straight road.
Comparing with your car? Most car speedometers read slightly higher than true speed by design. The speedometer test shows you how to measure the difference.

Speed Not Showing? Quick Fixes
- iPhone (Safari): Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Safari Websites → While Using the App, with Precise Location on.
- Android (Chrome): tap the icon left of the address bar → Permissions → Location → Allow.
- No signal indoors: GPS needs open sky. Step outside or move near a window and wait 10–15 seconds.

How do I convert km/h to mph?
Multiply km/h by 0.621371. For example, 100 km/h ≈ 62.1 mph. Or tap MPH under the gauge to see your live speed in miles per hour.
Is kph the same as km/h?
Yes. kph, kmph, km/hr and km/h all mean kilometers per hour.
Does the km/h speedometer need mobile data?
Only to load the page. GPS works without data, so speed keeps updating offline. You can also add it to your home screen.
Why does my speed jump when I stand still?
GPS positions drift by a few meters. The tool filters very low speeds to 0 when you are stopped, but under poor signal you may still see brief jumps.
